The Manuel Adroer and Maria Raquel Martori Foundation was created in 2015 based on the legacy of husband and wife Manuel Adroer Iglesias (1924-2012) and Maria Raquel Martori Roig (1927-2014).

History

Manuel and Maria Raquel lived together through almost 60 years of marriage, sharing numerous experiences and a great love and appreciation for their family (parents, siblings, daughters and grandchildren). Throughout their lives they were committed to promoting respect for human rights and the transformation of society at the labour, political and social levels, actively involving themselves in the welfare of people. They shared a keen interest in scientific, cultural and religious issues, always promoting innovation and research and making this the driving force in their lives.

Manuel Adroer Iglesias was a businessman and scientist with a very productive and intense professional life. He created several companies in both the food and water treatment sectors, all of which would become points of reference. Maria Raquel Martori Roig was the backbone of the family and a source of constant support in Manuel’s life, without ever letting her many cultural and social interests fall by the wayside.

As a result of all these remarkable aspects experienced throughout their lives, they actively collaborated in many social initiatives, being an active part of foundations, entities and associations, think tanks, cultural institutions, helping people in need and making generous donations to many social entities that promoted all these values. The main entities with which they collaborated were: the IRES Foundation, of which Manuel was the president for more than 25 years, Intermon, Caritas, Pobles Germans de Catalunya, the Anne Foundation, Arrels, Acció Solidària Contra l’Atur, Sant Ildefons Parish, Doctors Without Borders, the Casanovas Sansa Foundation (Recossira), the Pare Manel Foundation, Assis Centre d’Acollida, Casal d’Infants del Raval and other nonprofit social associations.
